THE SAN DIEGUITO TENNIS CLUB is a
corporation, the stock of which is owned by 205 shareholders. It
was built in 1966 by a small group of local families who became
tired of the problems associated with playing on public courts.
The Corporation owns five acres, of which about four acres are
being used for the nine courts and Pro Shop/Clubhouse building.
The balance consists of parking areas, picnic grounds, swimming
pool, and vacant undeveloped land. The club is economically run,
utilizing the services in great part of volunteer members. It is
governed by a five member Board of Directors elected to serve
for a term of two years, and without remuneration.
RENTAL MEMBERSHIPS
Some of the shareholder-owners are active participating members
who pay monthly dues. Those who are not active offer their
membership for rent. The rental is $450 per year payable in a
lump sum, plus dues of $80 per month. All rentals are for a one
year period with possible renewal available. A membership is for
an entire family living under one roof.
BUY A SHARE
Sometimes a share is put up for sale. All sales and terms
thereof are strictly between seller and buyer with no fee to the
Club or any broker fee. Shares have been selling in the vicinity
of $7000.
ACTIVITIES
There are no court reservations for ordinary play. Members may
bring guests and pay $2.50 per day for each guest. The member
must stay with and play with the guest. No public use is ever
permitted other than Club sanctioned events. The Club
participates in exchanges with other clubs and in the North
County Winter League, USTA and Fall League. We have active
ladders in singles and doubles. We also have an active senior
group. There are club tournaments, pot-luck dinners, socials and
bridge games. Our members consist of all levels of ability.
